Hawaii '05 Footage
I've recently gotten my stuff together (literally!) to actually start making music videos.... However, I first got my digital video camera back in December 2006. At the time, I'd actually been considering doing it for a couple years. As to what made me actually get the camera and start filming, there's probably 3 main reasons...
First, until just recently, I'd been mostly working part-time at a music store in St. Cloud (the late, great Al's Music). And while I liked many things about the job (customer service, putting away inventory, & a bit of sales), it paid about $8.50/hour. So at 20 hours / week, I wasn't quite making much... In spite of this, I was still getting by and not really looking for a new job.
But late one September morning while at work, I answered the phone and it was Jill, a former co-worker at my previous job (Copy Central). The next thing I knew, she was offering me a full-time job at a small new store opening out in Sartell. I had to think about it for a couple days, and then I accepted. So by late October, I'm right in the middle of the "old Sartell". And by the time December rolls around, I'm feeling a little "saucy" in terms of having some extra money around :)
Second, my roommate at the time was big into using his video camera to make a lot of very watchable things! I definitely wouldn't mind seeing his video of baby robins growing (sped-up footage). And who could forget the crappy kitchen (for which a 1-time response really should be made!). Needless to say, after a while of watching him make stuff w/ a simple digital video camera, I started wanting to try it myself.
Third, I was going to Hawaii! My parents were celebrating their 50th anniversary, so we took a family trip :) So, on Christmas eve, I head over to the Circuit City and get the camera I've chosen after pretty thorough researh. I even skipped the evening church service that year so I could read the manual ;P Anyway, continued reading through the flight, and by the time we got to Kona I was ready to go...
So I watched it again this afternoon, all 3 tapes (more or less). In most cases, I hadn't seen this footage since 2007. (In high-school terms, I was a freshman then, and a senior now.) It was definitely interesting to hear the way I spoke back then, and used the camera.... Anywho, it was a good learning experience and it yieleded some good footage as well :) Some of that footage is going to turn up in the videos I'm gonna make for this album. The first one is right here!
